Cameroon – English-speaking crisis: Humanitarian aid for internally displaced persons in the Western Region
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization Paul Atanga Nji handed over on August 26, 27 and 28 in the cities of Bafoussam, Dschang and Foumbot, humanitarian aid on behalf of the Head of State Paul Biya for the benefit of the displaced populations of the Anglophone Crisis in the northwest and southwest regions of the country.

The MINAT wished to clarify things regarding the plan of emergency humanitarian assistance It responds to the urgent needs of the displaced populations and comforts the families, We invite the local populations to welcome and assist their Brothers, as well as the Principals of High Schools and Principals of schools not to create a bidding war and to register children of displaced populations free of charge, The Head of State is working to ensure that the Populations find their Houses as soon as possible>>>.

In a concrete way it is clear from this exit of Paul Atanga Nji that the humanitarian aid intended for these populations is effective and has made it possible to help and take in charge 700 Families, and more than 3000 Persons.

The Cameroonian government is struggling to manage these displaced people from the northwest and southwest regions. The Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Territorial Administration is now in full action for the deployment of the emergency humanitarian assistance plan for the displaced and victims of the Anglophone crisis.
This aid consists of 700 Mattresses and 1500 Blankets, food such as rice, salt, sugar, flour, vegetable oil, sardine… But also hygiene products such as soap and bleach.Since the beginning of the English-speaking crisis three years ago, the humanitarian caravan decided by the Cameroonian government in the northwest and southwest regions, for the benefit of displaced populations, has not weakened and is intensifying.

More than 90,000 people have already benefited in 15 boroughs in the North-West and 12 boroughs in the South-West and neighbouring regions such as the Western and Coastal Region. Nearly 1,200 people are unstable and go from one shelter to another with the help of their loved ones. The Prime Minister, in signing the order on the creation of an emergency humanitarian assistance coordination centre on November 21, 2018, had thought of a more harmonized way to help these populations. This is what MINAT Paul Atanga Nji, with his selfless dedication and patriotic fervour, is dedicated to, providing general supervision.

It must be recalled that the centre’s objectives are to carry out the missions entrusted to it, to monitor and evaluate the humanitarian aid plan, coordinate all activities relating to the assistance of the victims of the crisis in the two regions, organise concertation and ensure the coordination of the interventions of the different actors and ensure the synergy of the interventions of the different actors. The Minister invited the Humanitarians to be part of this logic and organization, for more efficiency and traceability in the action, given that the Humanitarians and the Government of Cameroon are seeking the same goal. “The government’s first responsibility is to look after its populations in distress. Our partners will support us.
