Local production of medical products: Equipped business leaders
Young entrepreneurs have been meeting for this purpose since Tuesday, February 14 in Yaoundé, at the initiative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
Stephen Mouafo Foguieng, biomedical engineer and also owner of the company General Biotech Sarlu, sees the future of his company under better auspices. Raison? Since the beginning of the week, he has been taking part in a training session organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in partnership with the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development and the Ministry SMEs Ce, as part of theproject called “< Promoting public health by improving the capacity of the national supply chain for medical products, in order to increase resilience against Covid-19”. Stephen gong is therefore one of these many és will be strengthened, with the aim of their local production of medical products, in order to deal with the multiple health crises that Cameroon could face. This session revolves around five modules, specifically the mastery of production processes and procedures, production planning. It is thus a question of ensuring that the commercial capacities of national actors in the supply chain are reinforced, in terms of technical capacity, quality assurance, commercial resilience.
The project provides support to actors in the supply chain of medical products in response to Covid, and more particularly to SMEs in this target sector of the project. The various capacity building activities planned under this project aim to upgrade the actors of this supply chain, in terms of ,Technical capacity.
Quality assurance and Organizational resilience and business continuity in emergency situations.
The successful implementation of this Project could thus contribute, in the long term, to strengthening national industrial capacity and improving the capacity of the National Health System to deal effectively and sustainably with COVID-19.
UNIDO approach and response framework.
Since 1986, UNIDO has implemented 129 projects in Cameroon. These projects are mainly focused on the development of productive activities that generate income and decent jobs for vulnerable populations, the development of the private sector, support for SMEs, the promotion of renewable energies for productive use, the development ofvalue chains with high growth potential as well as the upgrading and quality of the infrastructure sector. UNIDO is implementing its operations in Cameroon under the United Nations Sustainable Development Framework for Cameroon 2022-2026, with the aim of supporting the emergence of the country in 2035.
